Gumaer, Peter

Peter Gumaer, the pioneer, married Esther Hasbrouck, of Kingston. His children were Hannah, who married James Swartwout; Esther, who married Samuel Swartwout; another who married a DuBois, and there was a fourth daughter, Rachel. He had only one son, Peter, who married Charity DeWitt, and left two sons,— Peter and Ezekiel. Peter E. Gumaer, the author of the manuscript history alluded to, was a son of Ezekiel.

is most certainly Pierre Guimard, friend & co-refugee of Jacques Caudebec (Jacob Cuddeback) Pierre & his wife Hester Hasbrouck, daughter of New Paltz Patentee Jean Hasbrouck had 1 son Peter Gumaer Jr & 5 daughters Anna, Esther, Mary, Rachel & Elizabeth. Peter Gumaer Jr built Fort Gumaer in the 1750s & was the father of 8 Children - 4 sons & 4 daughters - namely Peter Gumaer III, Jacob De Witt Gumaer, Ezekiel Gumaer, Elias Gumaer, Esther Gumaer, Margaret Gumaer, Mary Gumaer & Elizabeth Gumaer.
