Case, Walter

WALTER CASE, of Newburgh, was the son of Rev. Wheeler Case, of Duchess County, who has some reputation among antiquarians through his "Revolutionary Memorials," embracing poems, published in 1778. He was member of Congress, 1819-21, and surrogate of the county, 1823-27. He removed from Newburgh to Fishkill, where he died. His wife was Sarah, daughter of Jonathan Hasbrouck (2), of Newburgh. His grandson, Walter C. Anthony, is a practicing attorney in Newburgh, and is now serving his second term as district attorney of the county.
