GEORGE W. RAYMOND, merchant, Raymilton, was born August 4, 1828, at Troy, New York, and came to this county with his father, the late A.W. Raymond of Franklin, in 1836. He was brought up at Utica, Venango county, and obtained a limited education at the common schools thereof. He was early associated with his father’s business interests. From 1853 to 1858 he had charge of a furnace at Raymilton; in 1863-64 he was engaged in oil production on Oil creek, and in 1867-68 he was in Montana, as superintendent of a gold mining company. Since 1868 he has been a member of the firm of Raymond Brothers and has charge of the oil interests of his father in this vicinity. Mr. Raymond was married September 29, 1874, to Miss Mary Adams, who died October 4, 1882. She was the mother of one child, Florence, who was born August 23, 1875, and died January 26, 1882.
