Gallagher, J. Edward

J. Edward Gallagher is an enterprising and successful young business man of Butler. He was born in Butler County, October 29, 1900, and is the son of William L. and Catherine (Coyle) Gallagher.
William L. Gallagher, who lives in Butler, is a native of this city and for many years has engaged in building contracting. His wife is also a native of this county. Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher have ten children, as follows : James L., a radio operator with the U. S. Navy, is now stationed in Panama ; J. Edward, the subject of this sketch ; Mary Claire, lives at home ; William A., lives at home ; Elizabeth, deceased ; Raymond, Bert, Catherine, and Charles, all at home; and Paul, deceased.
J. Edward Gallagher attended the district schools of Clearfield Township and later in Butler. He was associated with his father in the building business for some time and then went with the Standard Steel Car Company. In 1919 he entered the employ of the Standard Auto Company, and two years later went with the E. J. Thompson Auto Painting Company of Pittsburgh, with whom he remained until 1925. He then established his present business in Butler and does first class automobile painting.
In November, 1922, Mr. Gallagher was married to Miss Agnes Griev, of Butler, the daughter of John and Carrie (Klingensmith) Griev. Mr. Griev lives in Butler. His wife is deceased. To Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher have been born two children, Agnes Elizabeth and William John.
Mr. Gallagher is a Democrat, a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, and belongs to the Knights of Columbus, third degree.
