Aiken, John A.
John A. Aiken, cashier of the First National Bank of Slippery Rock, ranks high among the leading and successful business men of Butler County. He was born at North Sewickley, Pennsylvania, February 28, 1870, and is the son of Robert C. and Tirza Jane Aiken.
Robert C. Aiken spent most of his life at North Sewickley, Pennsylvania. He was a large land owner and a prosperous farmer of that section. He died in 1913.
After completing his early schooling, John A. Aiken attended Sewickley Academy and Slippery Rock State Normal School. He then became associated with the private banking business of W. Henry Wilson at Slippery Rock, and in 1902 when Mr. Wilson organized the First National Bank, Mr. Aiken was made cashier, in which capacity he has since served.
Mr. Aiken was married to Miss Sarah Elizabeth Irwin, of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. They have three daughters: Lelah, Marie and Marjorie.
Mr. Aiken is a Republican, a member of the Presbyterian Church, and belongs to the Masonic Lodge and its various branches. He is treasurer of Slippery Rock State Normal School and a director and treasurer of the Slippery Rock Independent Telephone Company.
