PETER BIRCH, blacksmith, P.O. Meadville, was born. March 7, 1822, in this township, and is son of John and Hannah (Royal) Birch, the former a native of Pennsylvania, the latter of. New Jersey. They had twelve children, of whom nine survive: Susannah, Peter, Henry, Cynthia, George, Sylvester, Almira (Mrs. Bates) Amanda and Lewis. John Birch died in 1850, his widow following in 1883.
