G. C. CUTCHALL, farmer, was born in Sugar Creek township, Venango county, January 8, 1820, son of John and Emily (Livermore) Cutchall, of German and English descent, natives respectively of Lancaster and Mercer counties. The father of Mrs. Cutchall was Jeremiah Livermore, who lived within four miles of the town of Mercer. The father of John Cutchall moved from Lancaster to Westmoreland, and thence to Crawford county, where he was a resident during the war of 1812 and until his death. His son, father of the subject of this sketch, removed from Venango county to Randolph township, Crawford county, where he also lived until his death. G.C. Cutchall was brought up until the age of twelve in that township. He was then taken into the family of his maternal grandparents and obtained, a common school education in Mercer county. His first business was farming, after which he was employed in a grist mill and distillery. March 11, 1841, he married Rebecca, daughter of Jacob Reagle. They removed to Crawford county in 1842, where he was engaged in farming and carpentering twelve years. In 1854, having purchased his present residence, he removed thereto and continued the same business. Of a family of fourteen children born to Mr. and Mrs. Cutchall eight are living: Mrs. Elizabeth Wise; John; Mrs. Sarah Irwin; Mrs. Mattie V. Thompson; Isaiah; Jerome; Mrs. Laura Beil, and Mrs. Nettie Dean. Mr. Cutchall has been elected to every office in the township except constable and is Democratic in politics.
