Sloan, Leslie

LESLIE SLOAN, oil producer and farmer, son of William B. and Jane (Leslie) Sloan, was born December 1, 1823, on what is known as the Stubble farm, Scrubgrass township, and here he was brought up, attending the common schools. In 1844 he went to live with his maternal grandparents, James and Hannah (Reddick) Leslie, for whom he cared until their death, nine years later, receiving as evidence of their appreciation a farm of eighty-six and a half acres. In 1858 he married Clara, daughter of Robert Porterfield, of Richland township. They are the parents of two children: Ira, married to Estella Lawrence, and Myra, wife of A.R. Newton, of Emlenton.
