A. H. Ziegler, M. D., of Butler, graduated in medicine and qualified himself for the practice of that profession twenty years ago. Except for an interval during the World War, his professional work has all been in Butler. He was born in Butler, October 11, 1882, and is a son of William G. and Mary (Troutman) Ziegler.
William G. Ziegler was born in Butler Township, Butler County, May 25, 1858, and was the son of W. S. and Susan (Schleppy) Ziegler. W. S. Ziegler was the son of George Ziegler, formerly of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and was a brother of Capt. Jacob Ziegler, the founder of the Democrat Herald.
W. G. Jacob Ziegler. He remained in the printing office, gradually rising from one position to another until he became foreman. In 1888 he became part owner and continued to issue the paper until June, 1899, when he sold his interests, after an association with that journal of twenty-four years' duration. In April, 1884, in partnership with C. M. and W. J. Heineman, he established the Times, and continued that publication until 1885. In 1900 he established the Ziegler Printing Company, job printers and bookbinders, and with this enterprise he continued until he retired. This business was purchased by George Worner, but is still under the name of the Ziegler Printing Company. He married Miss Mary Troutman, a daughter of Adam Troutman, one of the leading citizens of Butler. Doctor Ziegler is their only child. Mrs. Ziegler is a member of the German Lutheran Church. Mr. Ziegler is a Democrat and a member of the German Lutheran Church, and was very active in musical societies.

During the World War Doctor Ziegler enlisted in the Medical Corps of the U. S. Army and was sent to Camp Greenleaf, and at the time of his discharge from the army was a first lieutenant. In 1924 Doctor Ziegler took a post-graduate course in medicine at Harvard University.
In 1913 Doctor Ziegler was married to Miss Kathaleen Bonner, a daughter of J. A. and Catherine (Riddle) Bonner, natives of Venango County, later removing to Butler County.
